Mr Selfridge returns to ITV for a brand new third series, which picks up the story after the end of Word War I and sees Harry Gordon Selfridge (Jeremy Piven) struggle to come to terms with the death of his beloved wife Rose.
Nine months after saying their last farewell, the family prepares to attend the wedding of Harry’s eldest daughter, Rosalie (Kara Tointon), to renowned Russian aviator Serge De Bolotoff (Leon Ockenden). At the church, a thronging crowd has gathered to see the arrival of the guests. At the forefront of the lavish event is Russian émigré Princess Marie (Zoë Wanamaker), the extravagant and glamorous mother of the groom.
Agnes (AislingLoftus) and Henri (Grégory Fitoussi) are at last reunited and after a waiting through a long War, they want to be married as soon as possible.
Whilst Crabb worries about the financial implications of hosting the wedding, the reception gets into full swing on Selfridge’s Oxford Street Roof Terrace. But Serge is drunk, flirting with female guests and pressurizing Harry to invest in his aerodrome enterprise. Harry is worried: is this marriage good for the Selfridge family?
More trouble is afoot when Harry’s nemesis Lord Loxley (Aidan McArdle) arrives back in town – probing Miles Edgerton (Raymond Coulthard) about Harry’s latest fortunes, debts, credits and business interests…Newcomer Nancy Webb (Kelly Adams) comes to Selfridge’s and demands a meeting with Harry. Armed with plans for a housing estate for former War servicemen, Nancy is planning to use the same piece of land in Acton Serge has earmarked for his aerodrome. She implores Harry not to buy this land; rumours of his interest are pushing the price up. He remembers how Rose had a similar housing project in Chicago.
He later heads to the vast expanse of land in Acton, where the idea for an entirely new project begins to form…
Mr Selfridge airs on Sunday 25 January at 9.00 pm on ITV
