The Comic-Con panel of the final film of The Hobbit trilogy hosted by Stephen Colbert, was a celebration of the phenomenal work by Oscar-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson, as the director together with the ensemble cast talked about the 6 epic films: The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit trilogy, based on the beloved work by J. R. R. Tolkien.
From New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will be released this December. Bilbo’s journey culminates in a desperate and dangerous choice as darkness converges on the Lonely Mountain, and the races of Dwarves, Elves, and Men must decide: unite or be destroyed. Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf the Grey, with Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins and Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield. The ensemble cast is led by Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ken Stott, and James Nesbitt, with Cate Blanchett, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, and Orlando Bloom.
Joining Peter Jackson and Philippa Boyens on the panel were Benedict Cumberbatch, Elijah Wood, Andy Serkis, Orlando Bloom, Cate Blanchett, Graham McTavish, Lee Pace, Evangeline Lily and Luke Evans.
The audience got to see a few teasers from the final film and the panel ended with the announcement of a very exclusive competition by Peter Jackson. The filmmaker goes in search of 73 (2 were chosen in Hall H) LOTR/ The Hobbit/ Tolkien super-fans, who will be invited on a trip to New Zealand with Peter Jackson as their very own personal tour guide. Those very lucky 75 will have the privilege to be the first to see the final film, during a special private screening with the director, who will be on hand to answer any questions!
